Busy

BUSY
This week has been so busy, going back to uni and also on top of that trying to find a house to live in next year has been really stressful.
We started the second part of our project this week which is based on container culture, there are a lot of elements that have to be done in this module and it’s going to be a really tight squeeze to fit them all into this short term.
We started with our research for this week sessions, we have to look at a certain type of container and use shapes, and textures from these places to create an interesting body of research picking out the key features of each container.
I chose to look at board games to start off with, so the container is a box which contains a game, rules, playing pieces, playing board, instructions and in a literary sense; fun and humour.
I have also look at two other containers to give myself a variety of different images and could then contrast some of the images together on my forthcoming idea sheets. The first I looked at was instruments, and how they contain music, I have looked at standard instruments and also ones used in different cultures so there are some unusual shapes and ideas. The second that I looked at was bins and how they contain rubbish. This has given me some great colours, but the shapes can sometimes merge into one and not give anything defined, so I’m not sure where to take that idea at the moment.
We have until Tuesday to finish our research and complete 5 idea sheets. Its been really hard work so far and with the house hunting taking up a lot of time, it’s going to be a real push to get a decent enough amount of work done, but I will try and do as much as I can.
At the moment I don’t know if I’m going to enjoy this project, I think where I am finding it quite difficult and not getting that many ideas I am struggling a bit. Hopefully I will be inspired or make up for lack of ideas in the next section to the project.
We also were given a new brief for a new module; fashion art and culture. It involved research and creating something from your research into culture related areas. I think this could be quite an interesting subject, but with the workload from the other module at the moment I think this module may suffer until I really have time to get really involved with it.
My jewellery course is coming to end with just two weeks remaining, I know what I am doing for my final piece and should hopefully complete that next week and then will be able to do my evaluation in the last lesson and that will be completed and will have a little more time to put into the new module.
